At the beginning of the registration process, International Affairs Office sends a detailed information package to all exchange students in order to help them complete the necessary procedure smoothly. This information package includes information about the city, university, accommodation, and social life. Below is some practical information for exchange students.
Documents for Visa
Students must obtain a Student Visa from the Turkish Consulate in their country before they enter Turkey for their study. The Student Visa cannot be obtained after the arrival in Turkey and tourist visa is not acceptable as a substitute. Incoming students must apply for visa at least two months before the beginning of the academic term.

6 recent passport size photographs
Proof document of student status (from their home university)
“Letter of Acceptance” from Bulent Ecevit University

As visa regulations may change quite frequently, students are suggested to contact the nearest Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their country.
There are payphones both in the post office and all academic units. They operate with cards which can be bought from stationery shops or the post office. In order to make international calls, 00 must be dialed before the phone code of the country.
There are three cellphone operators in Turkey, Turkcell, Vodafone and Avea. All these companies offer various pricing lists to satisfy the needs of their customers. Students can buy a line from these companies and use it on their cellphones.
Electrical and Electronic Appliances
In Turkey, the conventional 220 Volts European system is used. Electric sockets have two pins.
